| Wheatgrass " The
Green Wonder" |
Wheatgrass is one of the so-called
"green-foods" was discovered 50 years ago in preventing
illness by Dr. Arthur Robinson (AKA as "Father of Wheatgrass),
the director of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medical
in the USA. Further research performed by Dr. Robinson on
wheatgrass in 1978 found that wheatgrass and other "live
foods" decreased the incidence and severity of cancer
lesions in mice try about 75 percent.
In 1978, US scientists performed other medical research and
reported the wheatgrass juice had an anti-nutragenic effect
and also that it showed and anti-neoplastic ability. Hence,
consumption of wheatgrass juice was shown to detoxify the
blood and strengthen the body immune system.
Chlorophyll, the plant's green pigment that
is often referred as the "blood of plant", has been
shown in studies to have a cleansing, detoxifying
and healing effect on the body. It is said to strengthen
cells, detoxify the liver and bloodstream and chemically neutralize
pollutants.
Other health benefits were also reported:
- Regulate blood circulation-stimulate metabolism and bodily
enzyme systems.
- Purifies and rebuilds the blood system-also improves blood
sugar disorders and stabilize blood pressure.
- Neutralizes toxins in the body-includes removing heavy
metals and improves digestion.
- Suppress growth of cancerous cell at early stage.
As a nutritional supplement, wheatgrass contains a variety of
vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes. It contains 17
amino acids such a lysine, leucine, tryptophane, phenylalanine,
threonine, valine and isoleucine, argine, glutamic acid, histidine,
serine, tyrosine, vitamins (vita A, C, E & B) and omega
3,6 & 9.
Wheatgrass is grown and harvested after just 5-7 days growth
(about 7 inches). Due to its fibrous nature which is not easily
digested by humans, wheatgrass needs be liquified through the
use of a juicer before it can be consumed.
The wheatgrass juice can then be drank (either straight or in
mixture with another juice) or converted into capsule or powder.
Today, wheatgrass juice is in vogue at juice bars and health
spas, and is becoming a popular supplement to the daily diet.
Wheatgrass proponents claim that this green food can bring improvements
in health, provide more energy and even aid weight loss.
